Deep in the deepest depths of the outer most reaches of outer space, a meteorite hurled at what seemed to be unstoppable speeds. Inside was a young lad who had somehow managed to freeze himself in the core. The young lad was hurtling towards destiny! With a streak of fire, a loud noise, and an explosion, the meteor collided with the Earth somewhere in Southern California. The fire from the blast melted the lad into consciousness once again. As a side effect of being frozen and being from outer space, the lad would remain perpetually young, vital, and powerful. The lad took a look around at this foreign planet where he had crash-landed, and as he observed his new home, his destiny was becoming clear, he knew what he must do! As the lad was contemplating his destiny, he knew he must have a name. The lad had never had a name in his former life in outer space, but he knew he needed identification here on Earth, and with all his powerfulness and importance, he knew what he should be known as from that date until eternity, he shall be known only as a captain, not only a captain, but Captain Rad! Through the use of his magnificent mind powers, and hypno capabilities, Captain Rad located the only other two people whom fate had arranged to help him pursue destiny. After an eternity (one whole week and 2 days) of searching, Captain Rad at last found who he was searching for! He found his two allies known only as Dr. Justice and Johnny Amazing! These three heroic souls joined forces to become...The Rad! At least that's how I remember it happening. It's probably pretty accurate.
